Game Day
[India vs England - 1st Test -2nd day]

All right I did watch the game, how and where!! No comments.

About 15 years ago Test matches were considered to be nothing but a prolonged bore; 8 out of 10 times end result would be a domesticated draw. This really made cricket uninteresting for many, however cricket was saved by the one day games, and one day games got back people to watch the game ever than before. One day games also made test cricket interesting, its positive sides are batsmen started to be more aggressive, captains and coaches got in to strategy plays, over all momentum in the game improved. However yesterday watching India bat, I started to feel we are dipping back into the old era of Sloth bear cricket, dull batting by the Indians. At close, Dravid was standing there like a wall with a strike rate around 35. Indians were 136-1 at close with a microscopic scoring rate of around 2. Halo! What is the game plan? Kill time? Or help insomniacs to sleep tight?

Though I have to agree that English bowlers bowled a well planned line, but it was not devastating, Players like Dravid can change their strategy to tackle such line and keep the score board ticking. Wasim Jaffer played well. His batting approach is apt for test cricket, his batting style resembles Sanjay “the technique” Manjrejar. This guy seems to have better temperament than many recent Indian openers. Jaffer has the potential to take the number 1 position, the 3 year musical chair league for this post might come to an end.

My Concern, what if few quick wickets tomorrow morning? Dravid need not slash and play out of the way, just give work to the scorers; there were mere part time employees.

Next, Story of “Mr. That’s how he plays.” Damn! Sehwag; Pakistanis discovered his weakness, bringing the ball into him from outside off keeps Viru pegged. English did their home work well. Flintoff captaincy needs to be applauded, his bowlers moved the ball right into middle & leg, and did not give him any width or room. Then they forced him to drive on the off, placed a man in close cover area to catch it, it took about 30minutes to nail Viru down Hoggard did the needful. A powerful stroke came from middle of the Bat but was caught by Kevin Pietersen positioned specially for this purpose; at once Indian commentators switched on their recorded message, “that’s how he plays!” Sehwag always tends to hit the ball in air around that area. Coach! What is he doing?

He is busy talking about Gangully; once again Chappel stirred up unwanted controversy on disposed Indian captain Gangully. He mentioned in a recent interview that Gangully did not want to give up his captaincy for financial purpose. What the heck, the poor guy was dropped and sent to confinement, I think it is time to shut the ** up and focus on the game Mr. Greg “Roll the ball my Brother” Chappel. BCCI for a once behaved sane and has warned the coach. Or at least it says so in public.

during the morning session, English batsmen played well and took over the mediocre bowling. Why Dravid did not try Sachin? He kept on giving it to Kumble, imo, Kumble was totally ineffective and predictable. Sreesanth did get four wickets agreed still I feel he has a long way to go, and I wish he stops doing a kathakali-dance solo for every wicket. Irfan, from being called “Tofhan” etc has become a hand fan. He is well under “construction” area speed limits. India has to score about 600 runs in next 1.5 days to stay in the winning race

Commentary team! It was a pleasure to listen to Dean Jones, Botham, Gower and Nasser Hussein. Their language never sounded hurting even when criticizing.
A rumor down the grape wine:The sound engineer for Nimbus made LSiva sit 20 feet away from the microphone in order to curb his involuntary and voluntary randomatic sound spikes. Srinath still seemed to be “evil-eye-protective pumpkin” in the gang.

Good day.

Game Day
[India vs England - 1st Test]

A flat track that has lots of runs, Dish network like every other game offered the first days play FREE. The person in charge of live feeds was busy taking a quick nap, thank god, his alarm woke him up, and we went live after the first over.

Indian bowlers kept breaking coconuts than the usual numbers. May be around Green park oval there are many Ganesh temples than the usual. Anyways, with a non stop spree of short balls and bad line, English openers did not miss the opportunity, cooked a load of “thenga barbi” [Coconut Cake] and its count touched 50 in about 5 overs.

It was simply lack of experience in the English side, by close of play they were 7 wickets down, I would never agree that Indian bowling was devastating etc. Indians spin duo kept the batsmen pinned, however to my surprise the English ran out of patience. If they had taken the good old Gooch approach the score card would read 300+ for no loss at close. However Collingwood made sure he followed Boycott, he played a real slow innings with an strike rate of around 33.x , , in fact extras had a better strike rate.

VVS and Dravid took great slip catches. The response time for both the catches was less than a second.

Kumble was lucky to get a wicket, first he appealed screaming at 102db for a bat/pad catch for Flintoff, “bat was clearly away from the pad”, next ball Flint off was wrapped on the pad, and Kumble increased his appealing to 500db and almost threatened the umpire, who in turn raised his finger for a ball that was clearly leaving the leg stump. Flintoff was totally disappointed, who would not be - he was well set to score about 300 runs.

Kaif is another lucky dude, on what basis he is inside the eleven, Only Mr. More has to explain it in his golden words. Dada Bhai Gangully must be wondering the same;

Indians would play tomorrow, sure good "Gajju" ensured, Sachin Averages about 105 in this arena, while Viru is fit and raring to go, with power of Pathan & Dhoni, strength of Dravid and VVS, hope our formidable batting lineup bats just once. Currently bookies are taking bets on how much Kaif would score here.

Commentary team, Wow! It was totally unbiased and very professional; Ian Botham, David Gower, Nasser Hussein, Dean Jones, Srinath and L.Siva. Nasser Hussein’s expert comments in particular, he knows what he is talking and does not mince words, in fact the entire commentating crew was shrewd, and their experience on the field and in front of the microphone was visible.
L.Siva needs a limiter, he suddenly screams without any warning for nothing. The producer should stuff him with pacifier to clam him down. TV coverage in general was fantastic. Close up shorts in particular. A welcome relief from what we had in Pakistan.

Finally, however I don’t think I would be watching this series in full, because price fixed by Dish Network is absolute Day-Time, Night-Time, Full-Time, Part-time Robbery.
This habit of watching Cricket for money is slowly turning to be a greator evil than going to “Guindy” .

Good day

All set to go! [#281]

Injury hit English will face off a tough and pumped up Indian squad. England has not won a series yet in India for past 2 decades now. Indian team has many new faces, Yuvraj out injured hence Raina might get a test birth. And well! I feel he deserves it.

Bottom line, India has a formidable batting line up; I would be real challenge to deal Harbajan Singh and Anil Kumble at home. With Dravid hinting to have a young guns picket, I feel we have enough fire power to win the game, my only concern area is our pace attack, this is very unpredictable until the first over; hey! On the other hand, if Baji or Piyush or Kumble could do the trick, pacers task would be limited to cast the new ball “old”. Having said this, I don’t want prefer to underestimate the English team, underdogs usually rise to the occasion. So Dravid is still on the pressure stand. Except in Pakistan, England has been playing good cricket for past 12 months. If the current second fiddle English team could beat India, I would consider their effort to be bigger than their recent hyped ashes victory. Players to watch out: Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla and Middle order Batsmen Suresh Raina. Mostly Wasim Jaffer would open with Viru.

Dish Network’s program guide displays India England Tie! Hence we do have a live coverage via Dish Network. The cost is still a mystery. Anything more than $100-$125, I would think twice before ordering it. Usually the first day's play is offered free, so make sure you tune in tonight [457/461], who knows we might get a see a Viru bashing for free;

Good day!

Fragile! [#280]

The Touring English team eats too much and few players suffered the usual Delhi Belly – [also called as “The Manchester மசக்கை”], I am surprised with these injuries and sickness.

It all started with Giles, since he could not recover from his back surgery, he withdrew from the tour. The soon Shaun Udal, Simon Jones, Monty Panesar and Ian Blackwell go down with a stomach bug [Manchestar மசக்கை] on the eve of second practice game; Paul Collingwood's back injury rules him out altogether. This was followed by another bizarre incident, Vaughan the English captain withdraws from the warm-up match, while the charismatic Kevin Pietersen retires hurt with a back problem.

Then Vice-captain Marcus Trescothick announced that he is leaving the tour for undisclosed personal reasons. Next day, This bizarre situation reached its peak when English star performer Jones twists his knee [Again!] , now he would fly back home with Captain “Vaughan” for treatment. This is getting really fishy; Coincidence or what? Now the anchor man - Flintoff is caught in the raw deal, leading a weaker side, and yes be branded as underdogs. This also increases pressure for Rahul & Co. Hope the English get their full strength from the next test.

No Broadcaster in the US has announced about the coverage. I think Nimbus Communication is very professional in dealing these telecast issues. Rather than court solving it, Nimbus people acted pretty quickly and sealed deals with Sky [UK coverage], with DD for the terrestrial rights and gave Sahara One the Cable/Satellite Rights. I have never seen this happen before; usually broadcasters would fight with DD and go to the court. Nimbus is really professional or the new BCCI committee is working?

I wish Nimbus offers cricket for a lower cost in the US also, by now many have opted to see the games using various live web streaming where matches are offered for a flat fee that is less than $20. You just need a broad band connection and a free media player. Seriously, I am willing to pay up to $5 per test matches and $10 per one day games to watch it on TV, if anything more my economics will be hurt. Remember, we have lot more cricket this year and next year.

Finally,
I just heard this over the wire, during the drinks break - along with Gatorade, BCCI has plans to provide the English team with few ounces of Maalox, Gelusil-MPS, Ibuprofen or few natural therapy like herbal Oil massage etc.

Good day.

a Flawed System [#279]

Few years ago, out of the blues Metro authorities found that parking lot attendants were pocketing dollars and failed to account for the actual amount collected. Yes, in Shady groove alone about 1000 cars a Day, 25x4 = $100 a day. A huge racket was busted. However instead of punishing the actual thieves, and putting a financial audit on these collections, Metro decided to penalize the commuters instead.
Metro picked up an auspicious day and announced a new system, they would not accept cash in their parking lot; commuters who park in the stations should have to this miserable smart card with balance. Though is called as Smart Card, it will not warn you if the balance is low. You will be in for surprises if you don’t keep track of the balance. In short, the card does nothing for you, it cost $5.00. As usual every news media outlet screamed about this but nothing much was done.

I felt this pain few weeks ago. I came back from work at around 10.15pm; I do have this Smart Card. I walked about a mile towards the parking lot in the bitter cold, took my car out, and alas wait the gate wouldn’t open! – The red LED on the brainless scanner blinked, there was a person sitting in the booth coolly told go back into the station to charge my card. There were 2 commuters behind me, little bit angry as I was standing there like jack ass. Yes! The dreadful no balance has struck me at 10.26pm, In order to get back out of the parking lot, I had to back up, park the car, and go back into the station - refill this damn card. Really Agonizing! And it was not only me there were 2 others who were busy cursing the system. They also backed up and joined me in the refill ceremony.

Why cant Metro install few recharging machines near parking lots or why not formulate a scanning device with recharging capabilities? When I find no balance at the nook corner of the station, I could recharge it then and there, instead of going around the station for n number of minutes?

Hey! wait a minute, be happy with what you have dude, thank god metro’s credit card validation system in the station was not broke, else you could have ended up spending the night in the station.

They do offer a credit card that can tied to this card now. I know there are many out there like me using this dumb little electro-synthetic called Smart Card issued by Dc metro. I like to meet the "smart people" who gave such a fantastic name to a dumb system. They call it pure genius, duh! The most important city in the world has the most pitiable metro car parking system in the world

ps: A followup, U.S. Approves Visa for Indian Scientist , The Washington Post reports.

Dumped! [#278]

Gangully Dumped! I feel it was a well planned coup by Greg Chappel and Co. When Kaif, whos performance was pathetic can be selected, I don’t see any reason why Gangully cannot play.

Recently in an interview Mr. More mentioned - it is not easy to replace somebody with a track record like Anil Kumble, so! What happened to the track record of one Mr. Gangully? I am no Gangully Flag Bearer; still I feel BCCI has dumped a player without considering his past experience and contribution. He was never given enough time to reinvent himself. I don’t know what justification Dravid, or Chappel or More would offer for picking Kaif in the squad. One good thing, Agarkar has been left out Whew! I can be happy for it until he “over-oils” someone and gets back into the team. Zaheer Khan was also shown the door, it was about time.

Congratulations to Sreesanth, Raina, they found their way into the Test Squad. This will do a lot to their talent. Munuf Patel needs to be considered, I feel he would be a better choice than R.P.Singh. Hope lady luck similes once again for Singh.

Inzi has been doing a whole range of Soap operas and bottled nose crying; Poor Inzi! That’s all we can say. If Pakistan needs to win - Inzi needs to bat up the order and face the music. Bob Wollmer’s ridiculous idea of hiding him from swing and seam should be thrown to the dustbin.

Finally more "Dumped" news!

US consulate in Chennai has rejected Visas to 2 Indian Scientists. First it was Mr. Goverdhan Mehta, former Director of the Indian Institute of Sciences, Banglore. Washington posts reports that he was dumped for not filling some questioners. [read it here], The incident has also caused embarrassment at the highest reaches of the American scientific establishment, which has worked to get the State Department to issue a visa to Goverdhan Mehta, who said the U.S. consulate in the south Indian city of Chennai told him that his expertise in chemistry was deemed a threat. - - The Washington Post.

Next one in the order was scientist P C Kesavan, New India Press Reports, that scientist P C Kesavan, holder of the Department of Atomic Energy’s Homi Bhabha Chair on Nuclear Science and Rural Society at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation has been denied a Visa.

Indian community in the US is generally trouble free, their on and off shore contribution to this US economy is very clean and vital. I really feel bad when we are treated in this way every time for a Visa. Can some one from the State Department provide a sane answer for such treatments? Hope President of India [a nuclear scientist] addresses this issue next month to the visiting US president [who finds it hard to pronounce the word nuclear].

Good day!.

Todays Blog - [#277]

As you can see my Blog now has a fresh layout, hope you like my new “hand writing”.

American idol seems to gain momentum; My vote: Contestant number 10. Once again, Simon reviewed with perfection. Many traded insults with him, and contestants settled their accounts, they were quite bold to take him on. Frankly if not for Simon this show would not have produced high quality vocalists. Other two judges have emotional left and right ventricles, they give up too quickly. “Trying to be nice” attitude often hinders a technical selection process, and makes it more subjective.

Talking of Subjective sport, Winter Olympics - does any one care? NBC has spent more than 300 million, in this information age, I really don’t know how they manage this delayed coverage mela. International Sporting actions must be seen live, recording it and playing it on prime time with added “sentimental” speeches will not work. NBC will be taking over Sunday night football; damn I hope they don’t emotionalize it, meaning, NBC producers assume every thing they produce must be like Date-Line. Their thinking process is completely DateLine’ized. Even this time Olympic coverage had lots of “emotional stories”, Oh! And Yas!” these kind of alternative Date Line versions sinks the sporting speed and thrill right royally; I stopped watching Olympics - NBC is one main reason.

Finally,
Been listening to Rang De Basanthi for about a week now, I would rank “Roobaroo” as the best song in the album; (a) this song has a unique format. (b)The chorus lines are sung by Rahman (c) Kind of Simon and Garfunkel feel (d) Song recording - the whole instrument track has Phaser effect. (e) Nice and fresh backing vocals ideas.
-- My One line review - Rahman is simply amazing.

Good day.

Victorious team India back home, next task would be to trash our former rulers. Just waiting for the series to kick off, if dish network is going to loot me, I have no other choice other than to opt for web streaming. When someone on the web offers the same for $16.00, I would be forced to consider this offer; remember the so called legal version costs about 10 times. Hope Dish Network keeps my threshold intact.

Over the weekend it was movies Time! Just to relax a little bit from my busy recording schedule.

First to go was the Tamil version of the Sixth Sense. – ஆறு [Aru]. Learnt a bunch of new Tamil words and felt the power of our Tamil cultural dimension – Eg: “sketch podu” Way to go Hari, I was just wondering is there something else you can think other than violence, rowdies, goondas? Suriya is simply good, I have not seen anyone talking better in pure Madras lingo as he does, Aishwarya [not the Roy’s kid] does her little part well in being a political stage speaker with fantastic flow of cursing language in good old Madras Tamil. Having given a “A/R” certificate, why the hell mute swearwords? About 99.999999% could lip read her I don’t know why cursing is illegal in Tamil movies when they take great pains to show a person being kicked and finally stabbed using best cameras in the world, I feel cursing is really safe. Oh there was Trisha! Too she was busy selling cell phones. I have to agree the screen play was fantastic and fast, if not for screen play "வை" would be an automatic add to the title; Music Sri Devi Prasad, I never enjoyed the back ground score or to put it using the Simon’s way, this movie was way too big for his talent.

This was followed by another great movie, one liner cost saving review “தொட்டி சுட்டதடா கை விட்டதடா - budhdhi kettadhada nenjai thottadhada”. You are welcome to guess the movie. Background music Harris – Just split his name to get my music review. The villain guy was totally dumb and did not deserve so much speed and action. Just the hero could have “sketched him” or director could have used a sketch as the villain - Disney’s Goofy would be my choice. Just don’t book a villain just because he is 7 feet tall, get some one who knows to act. Oh! I forgot, Silambarasan dude was the power bar in the screen play.

After these 2 nonsensical movies, thinking I would compensate the loss with a Hindi movie, I watched Bluff master, seriously வாத்தியார் புள்ள மக்கு is proved here.Junior B was right royally pathetic, he was more a Senior B [B for biting or choose some other convenient words] the story was about Con artists, who have ??? .. damn! Just forget it. Totally silly, the acting made it worse. Not my cup of Oval.

Finally a relief came via, Kanda nal Muthal, a Tamil movie out of the odds. A Tamil movie without crude heroism, crazy racy plot, fruit punch dialogues and anti-gravity stunts. I simply liked this movie for its simplicity and originality. Excellent work by the director – Priya, While commendable performance by Prasanna and Lila [though she looked little older than Prasanna :)]. So good Tamil movies are still being made!, it seems this movie failed in the box office. What the heck I don’t know, still I would want the producer to make such movies, “Chellam Chellam” you should come up such movies! da!.

Finally, Vijay, Suriya, Ajith, and every other Tom, VP and Harry Indian movie makers out there, just stop using Cell phones to convey import plots in a movie. This is ridiculous, and boring; There are better methods. Using cell phones is worse than Nambi and MGR/Sivaji rendezvous in a disco light filled State of the art NDD[ Nambi's Digital Den]. Thangalada Sami. :)

Good day,

2/17/06

I wish Woolmer had passed this message to his team and used it against India, or who knows his obedient Bowlers did not use the methods he prescribed. What ever, Yuvi has scored runs while Tendul also did the same. Woolmer game plans for Pakistan is almost identical to old South African team, I use to call it Blade batting - too dry cricket or IT industry “primary object would be - some how save your ass”. Ex-Pakistani Cricketers have sharpened their axes and are ready to throw at Inzi. This includes Amir Suhal who lost to Zimbabwe couple of years ago. I feel Bob Woolmer will take more pounding than Inzi.

Pakistan fell to Rahul's captaincy - Javagal Srinath (PTI) February 17, 2006
At times, captaincy is just not all about picking the right eleven or doing the right moves on the field. It is also important of captains winning the right toss at the right time. To translate the strategies discussed in the team meeting into realities on the field, winning the toss sometimes become a highly crucial factor....I have always viewed that a captain should have the extra luck to win the toss. I don’t care what methods he uses [ofcourse:anything other than fixing]; perform Yaga or go get a boon from Siva or Vishnu or use any white or Red or black magic I really don’t care; somehow Dravid has to keep winning the toss, period. This becomes a must in a crucial game. Dravid’s captaincy has certainly taken a big turn in this last one day game.

Finally something not to do with Cricket , yes once in a while :)

Classic Tamil plays, short skits, comedy dramas, speeches are offered by Kalakendra.com on DVD/VCDs/CDs. This includes classics from Cho Ramaswamy, and funny drams from Mouli, Crazy Mohan and Y.G.Mahendra. They also have wide collection of educational Bharathanatyam DVD/VCDs. Most Dramas are also available on audio CD.

This was shipped directly from Chennai, The quality and packaging was very professional. No Shady deals, usually [to save money] the DVD/VCD media used will be of poor quality. I have to say this because last time I ordered [from another store] was not up to my expectations. Most DVDs were burnt from VCDs and some were in PAL system, DVRs used were very cheap.
But this one manufactured by Swathi Soft Solutions was best in quality, no cheap DVRs and poor screen printing. The DVD media quality was very good and so was the printing on the DVD, worth the money. I wish they had split the plays as chapters. It is worth to have such a collection and also a breakaway from modern craptaculor punctuated Tamil movies. You can order it here..

Ps: My order included Thuglak 36 anniversary speech by Cho. It was $2.70,
Additional Ps: dont even try, I will be not lend this to anyone :)

Winnings a series in/against Pakistan is some effort. Indian team going great guns!, in my earlier Blog I had mentioned about Dravid's Captaincy ,70% of today’s victory was achieved due to his Captaincy. He was very tactful and did not give up attacking. His fielding placements were near perfect. He had a game plan for every batsman. Karam Akaml’s wicket is an example. Raina was placed just in time for the catch, Raina also took a great catch with ease and perfection. Dravid also compensated for the drop catch in the earlier game; he took a fantastic slip catch. Congratulations to Dravid! A quick learning team lead - won an off shore series.

One player who deserves a permanent place in the team would be Suresh Raina, He is a class fielder on par with Kaif and Yuvraj. I would say his batting technique and temperament is much superior than many in the Indian team. In spite of few quick wickets, a minor hiccup Raina played with real comfort and temperament, and took India home!

Kaif, why are we persisting with him? His batting stance and his batting technique is flawed, often his ass is saved by his excellent fielding ability and on field flamboyance. However it is too costly to have a player just for fielding. Today he had a great opportunity to score some runs however played a pitiful stroke, thanks to his flawed batting grip. He tried to cut a ball that was pitched wide outside the off stump, but edged it to Inzi standing in slips; the distance between his right and left hand in grip seems to be the issue, it is very wide [long handle]; generally it is very hard to play a square cut using such grips. Even if he had timed well, it would take the aerial route to gully instead. When Coach talks about Gangully’s weakness etc, I am surprised why there is no cure to Kaif’s poor technique? It is time to drop him. We have better players in the reserves. More and Co have to open their mind.

Agarkar I would always guess his first over , very predictable. 70:30 first ball from him would be an over pitched lossener, that would go to the boundary; Agarkar has been given enough chances and he is very predictable and inconsistant, I think it is time to retire him. He does pick wickets by giving a truck load of runs.

R.P.Singh, one good thing about him is, he is totally unpredictable. Meaning he changes his line and length pretty well and makes the batsmen think. He picks wickets at ease, like Mudassar Nazar [Man with the golden Arm] . But today R.P Singh bowled 20,000 wides; For such in disciplined performance I request Dravid to make him run around the ground for 40,000 times atleast. Good part is he won the man of match, he got few vital wickets. He bowled well according to the game plan, bowling a short ball on the leg surprised few Pakistani batsmen. This line was totally new and we did not see this in the earlier games.

Sachin was out for Duck, Gautham Gambeer should have had some fatty food last evening; he played an incorrigible “fatty” stroke that donated his wicket, mostly his place too. Dravid played a winning knock and was given LBW, a very close call that could have gone his way.

Over all Indian team performance seems to improve day by day. I am very happy and pumped for the India England games; I am also waiting for Moin Khan’s prognosis and his esteemed advices to players who have scored 10 times more than him.

When the game started, I was shocked to see this guy in the middle, Who? Steve Bucknor. However his behavior seemed normal, might be his medications are working finally or may be changed his doctor. What ever!, Once again! Dravid & Co! This is the Way to Go!

Guitar Prasanna has made it as a finalist in two different categories of the International Songwriting Competition, one of the most well known songwriting competitions in the world. ISC 2005 apparently had 15,000 total entries from all over the world and they picked 10 to 15 entries from them in each category for the final round. His composition Snakebanger's Ball (from Electric Ganesha Land) made it in the 'Instrumental' category and Ragabop (from Be the Change) in the 'Jazz category'. The results will be announced in March 2006. We can also be the judges under people choice vote, (voting open till Feb 28). Please click here to vote for Prasanna.

Congratulations Prasanna! You are an inspiration to little league musicians like me.

Another Win! A great one, in spite of pathetic fielding in the first hour, India trashed its arch rivals. Sreesanth should have realized why the position behind the bat was named Slips, Indian kept dropping some vital catches and denied any wicket to him. The slip area was as slippery as DC and NYC sidewalks today. “வாங்கி வாங்கி விட்டாங்கோ” more or less winter Olympics.[சறுறுறுறுறுறுறுக்கல் வழுழுழுழுழுக்கல் ]

R.P Singh’s opening over kind of ensured 700 runs, however he came back good and with some luck stolen from Sreesanth, he got few vital wickets.

As good as its gets– Irfan Pathan - His bowling works now. He claimed the wicket of Salam Butt again in the opening over. His batting however did not come good, ball was swinging than the usual and he got out to an unplayable ball.

Worrying factor - Dravid Captaincy seems to be a little bit out of essence, based on his field placements even I was able to guess the bowlers line [at 2.30am] , line was too predictable;

Our National Waste Ajith Agarkar , his first over is usually reserved for Lord Vinayaka [Usually he breaks about 6-7 coconuts in the first over] For once right from ball number one he bowled a tight line, but he went in with an injury. Agarkar was replaced by Super-Sub rather [Super-கப்பு] Gab Zaheer Khan, his four overs of sweet drops added about 20,000 runs right away. I have seen 1/2 கோழிs [kozis], however never seen 1/4 கோழி [kozi]. Zaheer did the needful. He went on to land few on his foot and got injured, while he came close to drop it right on umpire's foot atleast twice. Chris Broad might fine him for Obstructing the umpire., Zaheer needs to be consistent either being "pathetic" or "being good".

Batting was very hard for the Indians in the first hour; new Ball was moving and troubling the batsmen. As expected Gautam not so Ghambeer did not do much, His foot work was more or less a guessing game, he was totally uncomfortable. Seriously I miss Gangully

Sachin on the other end, a genius under such conditions, played very well to see the new ball off. He played a very good knock; a cover drive - best shot till now in entire series. This is the Sachin of 90s I know, it was so authentic and no one moved. During the previous ODI, Dean Jones mentioned Sachin has started watching his own batting from older games to learn what he is missing in recent times. Today knock was rock solid and should shut his blind critics for some time; their usual stupid “he has never won for India” will be checked for some time. I wish he had scored his 100;

Why Kaif? I really doubt his technique and I think he should go out.

Yuvraj is in an awesome form, took over from where he left on Saturday; played a fantastic innings that made Sachin’s score and opening stand a meaningful one.

Dhoni – one word “கூபாம்கபிம்”. Period. He was never in trouble even for single ball just whacked every bowler who dared to bowl. Rana was the principle donor. Dhoni made sure India was home, from an asking rate 6.x he got it down to 3.x, the real power play, Kadafi stadium became a temporary slaughter house.

Finally, Rameeze Raja was nose crying all through and he could take a Pakistani Loss, the best nose cry call came when Afridi got out; Holding is a sitting irritation, he was complaining too much on Indians every now and then. While Waqar was more balanced than the two, but India “losted” the test, the Sachin, The Dravid were his sound bites. Dean Jones after Pakistan innings mentioned that regardless of pitch condition that game is tilted towards India and they would win this game with overs to spare. Hearing this Rameeze Raja turned into "The Incredible Hulk" and was seen kicking people around the stadium. He was cooled down by Gautam not so Ghambeer's wicket.

2 games during the weekend was worth, I saw the third one too "கூபாம்கபிம்
At down under"

2/10/06

All set for the next one game,

• I wish we bounce back, at least the bowlers. A bowler who took 14 wickets is currently sitting at home for some unknown reason. While someone like Agarkar is still playing, trying to establish his so called all rounder image.

• “Calls to Drop Sachin” have been shut down temporarily, Thanks to his century.

• I feel Indians would be pumped up after Inzi’s nonsensical childish outpour in public.

• Moin’s and Inzi’s stupid hypothesis on sporting spirit, crookish behavior etc received tons of prima facie counter evidences to prove where Pakistan stands when it comes to sportsmanship. Sachin Run out in Eden Gardens and Gangully’s Catch in Chennai topped the list.

• For Inzi - Playing for 16 years/ 100 or more tests, I do not know how he was able to in public that “I really don’t know the rules” Ignorance is no defense; Inzi & co should get it clearly.

• Moin Khan - it is about Time to upgrade your memory chip – from PC000000.001 TO at least PC-133SDRAM. You seem to have a very poor and pathetic Gajini memory when writing, or may be your Ghost writer is Rip Van Winkle’s great grand son who woke up just this year. You mentioned Sachin and Dravid were afraid to face Sohib’s bowling, well dude, the world knows how you played the last over of day in the previous serious.

• Dravid magnanimity - here is another proof – the decision was well within rules and it was not appropriate for Inzi to fuss about it, Indians can complain to the ICC for such blunt remarks from a responsible captain, however Dravid has mentioned that it would spoil the good spirit in the series;Indian team will take a higher road and drop the case right there. Way to go guys.

• Sunil Gavasker has told categorically stated that ICC would be watching every bowler. Just one time clearance is not a permanent license Gavasker further told it is an on going process and bowlers would be always under the lense. This should put an end to Shoib’s great desire to sue people when someone comments on his action. Looks like he is missing the 2nd one day too, Kind of makes me think - is he avoiding the game just for not to be caught?

• Let us see What Viru does this time. ony only plea is Bowlers have to bowl a tight line.

• Damn! Heavy snow predicted in DC over the weekend. still Have a great weekend :)

2/8/06

It appears that the Indian team was desperate to win the game by hook or by crook, no matter even it came at the expense of the norms of this sport known as the gentleman's game. I don’t blame Suresh Raina for throwing and then appealing. He is new to the game and his enthusiasm is understandable. But the backup by skipper Rahul Dravid is deplorable. - Moin Khan

Wow! Empty vessles does make more noise. Where did this the so called norms vanish when Shoib Akthar threw a beamer at VVS and adding to the great sportsmanship he walked away without offering an apology. Where was Moin when this happened? till date he never mentioned about this conduct; may be due to his medical condition - temporary amnesia [aka Ganjini Syndrome]? Oh Yah! I know, he was busy drawing a career graph for one Mr. Tendulkar. During Shoib’s Beamer mela What did their captain do?, did he come and apologize to VVS?

Moin Khan Get this message clear, what Inzi did was ridicules and in fact Stupid. He goes and proves this stupidity in the presentation ceremony, “he does not know the rules”. And then makes it is big deal during the press meet. Remember Till date he has not apologized for what Shoib did when he was hit for 3 boundaries Shame! On him; Let me tell you the way he blocked ball did look intentional, the rule book clearly states that such acts are out and get this, Dravid did not decide it, it was the umpires who decided it was out. First get this, Inzi has to know the rules and play the game. And Dravid did the right thing in a tight game assume if Dravid or Sachin did the same I am sure entire Pakistan would have appealed.

Indian media is giving Moin too much free space to publish his moronic opinions. When it comes to sportsmanship we Indians are million light years ahead - so just shut the @#@# up Moin;

I wish I could ask them directly

ICC vs. the Indian Coach
The International Cricket Council has warned India coach Greg Chappell to refrain from making any comment on the bowling action of Pakistani pace man Shoaib Akhtar or face disciplinary action.-
Will ICC take on the unruly Australian crowd for what they did to Murali?

Kiran More [Interview in Rediff.com] - Q: Are you happy with the bowling we have? Yes. Why not? Our medium-pacers and spinners both have bowled very well in recent years!I see, then where is the pace bowler who bowled well in recent years? We call him Balaji?

More adds further - Even in the third and final Test against Pakistan, our new ball bowlers bowled exceptionally well in the first innings and had the hosts in all sorts of trouble when they lost their six frontline batsmen with only 39 runs on the scoreboard –
Kiran Dude! 10 wickets that makes an innings not 6 Or who knows some buffoon from your panel told them 6 wickets is enough to retain the place in the side.

What do you have to say about Sourav Ganguly, his inclusion and omission from the team and all the controversies surrounding him? - No comment, please! -- Dude Aren’t you paid to handle such comments? Oh! Damn it is an honorary job right. Gangully is truly an outstanding cricketer says Kiran More. Why did the hell you dropped him then?

The network builders are spending a fortune constructing and maintaining the networks that Google intends to ride on with nothing but cheap servers," Thorne told a conference marking the 10th anniversary of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. "It is enjoying a free lunch that should, by any rational account, be the lunch of the facilities providers" - John Thorne, a Verizon senior vice president and deputy general counsel

I was reading about this on the Post this morning

Network companies want to charge Google or Yahoo for the free Ride, He claims that companies like Google or Yahoo are riding free on their network infrastructure and they have been benefiting from these network infrastructure and servers without paying for them while the owners of such network services are spending heavy to maintain them; Their claim is Google, Yahoo and other such Internet services should have to pay fees for preferred access to consumers over such lines.

Here is my view, Assume you build a huge courier service company that uses every busy road in the city, you serve millions of customers every day, your trucks and vans ply all over the city making uses of the local roads. Now can the local Government or municipality or some private body who has leased the road maintenance wants to collect money from the owners of the courier service in order to share the cost in maintaining the road ways, the same roads ways using which the courier company earns millions. Verizon wants to collect some kind of toll for every network passage?

Google is making millions hence they can afford the toll, however what is the deal when it comes to smaller search engines? A big can of worms when opened.

Good day

2/6/06

Duck hunted the Indians - Officially we lost game on the computer.

Sachin should retire, Sachin should be dropped these were the major point of discussion around various groups and Blogs. But today Sachin played! A fantastic knock, and made his bat do the talking; proved his worth, Sachin strike rate was in 90s in when he was ruled out, it was a GBW rather. The ball hit his glove and then the pad. Run rate was almost 7.00 when he walked out. But our great Middle order crumbled and did not capitalize the over rate [7 runs per over].., Why Kaif? His batting stands looks pathetic, with such weak stance he did not seem to have any power to hit the ball, in fact Zaheer could take his slot and slog better than him.

Coming to the bowling attack? What? - I meant Indian bowlers were Attacked and Muggged.I think I have seen the worst bowling ever attack from an Indian team. First Prince of “donkey drops” Ajith Agarkar, averages above 50 runs - in bowling per innings, he manages to claim few tail wickets and some how nails his place in the team. KiranJi, kindly tell the world – on What basis you picked Agarkar and dropped Gangully – If you say on performance? I assume this to be some other performance – simply not cricket. I am also considering suing Waqer Younis, time and time again he was saying Agarkar can bat. Lets be clear about this - his bat does not even wash cloths; and his stinking bad-line and bad-length – gave Pakistan very many number of hatrick boundaries at regular intervals.

In the previous tour Indians had one Mr. Balaji who bowled quite well, however like proxy server IP, his whereabouts are unknown. V.B.Chandrasekar - only guy from Tamil Nadu in the Buffoon club of India [Previously known as Selectors club], - this dude did not find place in the Indian team now a selector, what next?

The funniest incident in the game was Inzi’s decision Inzi drove the ball to mid off and took off for a run, non-striker sent him back, the fielder [Raina] threw the ball which would have hit the stumps and Inzi was little short of the crease. However InZuBhai blocked the ball with the bat as though he was playing Shane Warne! Indians appealed, and he was given out – Obstructing the field. He was very upset and animated, he had to go out.

With great opening stands from Sachin, Pathan, and Dhoni we had fantastic recovery from the blown out test series. When Sachin was given out the run [LBW for a Glove and Pad] the run rate was 6.9 – 7.00, following batsmen like Kaif, failed to capitalize on this scoring rate, and our Bowlers! that’s all the quality we have in 1 Billion.? I would change the selectors also in this process and Dear Mr. Roll the Ball Coach - Get ready to face the music, this time you don’t have Gangully to Bank on. Gangully! This man must be laughing; he does deserve a place in the team. I wish not be Dravid now.

Steelers won! They did not play as expected, however I feel they won the super bowl few weeks ago. Beating Colts and Denver on road is almost a super bowl victory. Sea hawks missed some easy chances, could have won it, if and buts etc! Bottom line today Steelers are the NFL champions. Some network called them as world champions and made fool of world. World champs are award only for a world level competition not to national level champions. Applying that same rule Utter Pradesh would be the current World Ranji Champions. The ABC coverage - Dolby Digital sound mixes was very poor and the over all coverage was not that good, direction was very average. And the much hyped commercials, total waste of money and lack of idea, may be it is time to outsource this to India 

2/3/06

We are all set for an eXtra Large weekend of sports activities on TV. First it would the super bowl followed by the one day game between mentally & physically wounded India team vs. The pumped up Pakistan team.

I have no prediction for the Super Bowl XL, I just like to see Steelers win. Often in the past the team I assumed to be the favorites tend to lose badly, I guess this is due to the one week rest time they get after they reach the super bowl. This can reduce their game flow due to heavy eating and other things going around the celebrations. Just a wild speculation;

Indians cricket on the other hand have been the talk of the town everywhere, Sachin Tendulkar took most of the Whacking; I watched his game again yesterday [recording], you know what! He was never beaten even once in both the innings. He did look solid and as good as before, yes I am sounding biased but this the truth which most seemed to have missed. Anyway we need to look forward and take care of 5 one day games.

One day games are different all together, we might see a mentally fit and changed Indian line up. I feel Dravid due his over load seem to lose his concentration, he should gain back his focus and forget his captain role when he bats. I have never seen him tentative when facing Shoib Akthar. Bowlers have to bowl well, they cannot drop their shoulders down, Irfan’s speed is a concern. His speed seems to be reducing day by day, he was in the range of say - a Car then got down to a 100 cc bike now it is close to a TVS-50, he needs to be checked before he reaches the Luna /Mofa Level, [Wow! the good old Luna or Mofa - great mopeds just needs a ink filler full of gas to function. It used run 2 extra miles just by smelling petrol fumes.] Irfan's shoulder needs tinkering as they are getting weak. Viru has to fire, we should not write off his failures every time by saying “that’s how he plays”, he has come out this and stop using this weakness as handicap options for every game.

And finally, I am sure even Sachin haters would agree - Sachin loves and respects the game of cricket than most in India, as fans we need to trust his capacity. The day he feels he does not do justice to this game I am sure he will step down.

Critics’ trash talking on Sachin, or Gangully or Dravid –a perpetual habit after every game. We cannot stop it. Just think for a second - who is a critic? Someone who claims to know the direction but cannot or will not drive; only when driving we know the hardship. Let us roll and shout "Go India" and ofcourse "Go Steelers"

Have a great weekend.

Ps: If you are still interested Gangully is back home and should be watching the game on DD sports, yes they seem to have won a deal by paying a nose bleeding amount to ten sports.

2/1/06

We lost, in fact lost badly with record margins and totals. Morning session was totally pathetic; I have never seen such a shoddy bowling display from any India team of the past.

Dravid and Sehwag couldn’t face the new ball music. The only thing they had to do was go wicket less in the first hour. But they simply crumbled to the new ball, just as they did in the first innings. However all this will be forgotten or will be a tax deduction citing their previous achievements, why? We have Sachin to blame, and he will take all the blame - it is common practice in India. He is on really bad run agreed, but who was not in this tour?, Yeh! I know our make shift openers and others scoring more than 1500 runs on dead wickets!

Dravid would have come to sense with Gangully’s portfolio. Dravid cannot be Mr. Good or Mr. Nice; like his predecessor he has to show some metal aggression and attitude. Frankly Gangully never gives up this easily. To me Dravid captaincy was a big let down. I would blame this squarely on the captain. Having got Pakistan nailed at 38/6 Dravid failed to keep the pressure and the momentum. This clearly changed the game and tilted towards Pakistan. Dravid failed to command or direct his bowlers or the team. Instead we saw poor fielding placements and negative bowling tactics that donated plenty of runs. First and foremost, I did not see any game plan in place. May be bowlers let Dravid down, but still! It looked like more or less Indian team of 75-79 that faced Zaheer Abbaz and co.

Sachin walked in with the same pressure on his shoulders that he has been facing for past 15 years, he did blast few fantastic shots and started off well, however after VVS got out, the pressure tripled and his poor form got him. He went into a defensive mode and was soon bowled by ball that was a close enough to be called as a shooter. The ball kept very low than expected. Good for Sachin haters who will be celebrating just to see his wicket fall of a crude ball. Calculation being this would be the last season for Sachin. Having been fired from the one day squad, Gangully looked very good than all other players. He was solid with the bat [and the ball]. But for some reason he did not concentrate well enough. May be he lost his morale. Dhoni, Pathan and the rest of the tail were never interested to play. They seemed to be in a real hurry to give up the test. Indian team was bowled out in less than 60 overs, I think we have molded ourselves too much based on One Day Games.

Bottom line, Team India seems to lack morale in general. The drive seems to decrease day by day. Suggestions will flow to drop Sachin, yes he could be, and seriously I don’t see this team could do anything with or without Sachin. The problem lies else where, 50% bowling and 30% captaincy & tactics and rest to the batting line up and team selections - BCCI politics. Adding to all this, We have coach whose contribution till date is just to take part in BCCI politics and fight with Gangully or show fingers to spectators etc; , empty vessels make more noise. Chappel needs to come out of this Gangully cold war and other issues in order to prove he is worth the pay scale. Bob Wollmer shines more in my eyes, India Pakistan game is all about mental aggression and attitude, technique comes next. Indian team lacked this aggression and attitude in 80-90, however Gangully changed this well, but it looks like we are back to where we were 10 years ago. Dravid and Co now has the one day games to salvage pride. Let us hope for best.

Another big issue: ICC needs to take a serious note on Shoib Akthar’s bowling action, he chucks at an average of 3 balls per over. I see this from Afridi too. This has been already addressed by the Coach; Dravid should also raise concerns about this in public.

Ps: This morning the DC101 radio had calls from many about this loss, many was trashing the Indian team. The Radio guy did know cricket is such a big sport; the sentiments and emotions are very high now - even in DC.

1/31/06

Greg Chappel has been walking around saying he is a person who cannot take anything mediocre or below par. Where did this so called Iron man vanish?,
R.P.Singh in particular kept banging the ball at some where around 10 or 11 yard marker – technically half pitch Frankly R.P Singh could have used his skill set to complete someone’s religious commitments [“நேர்திக்கடன்”] - Breaking 2000 coconuts in Ganesh Mandir. This guy does not seem to learn kept on bowling short balls and captain did not come near him to advice him or kick his butt. Zaheer on the other hand was almost close to R.P.Singh but some what better, he kept his coconut breaking count to 1000. When compared, Pathan bowled well however he seemed very slow why? And tried - Too much work load on him? The only bowler who did not try fancy stuff and kept his line and length was Gangully. Seeing this Kiran More dropped him from the one day squad right away.

I never saw Dravid mentoring his bowlers. They were let to go free on their own. Where is the coach? What does he do there sitting in front a Sony Vio lap top? Download mp3 songs from Coolgoose or prepare script for his next tussle with Gangully? Coach after all this bowling utsav has told “bowlers bowled well”, “the pitch did not help them”, halo! Bowling good length and line is nothing to do with the damn pitch condition, we call it basics. Going back to the first innings, I feel Dravid let them of the hook. From 38/6 how can he let the hooks loose? How can his team let someone like Shoib Akthar score 45? He had a wide gully and point for Akathar ? For what - Rest area for Kumble? Poor field changes like there was no midwicket - singles kept flowing freely.
What about these?
1. No Game plan to get Yunis Khan and Mohammad Yosuf, both have scored about 1500 runs against India.
2. Bowlers failed to bowl a tight line and length regardless of the damn pitch condition
3. poor field placement and changes
4. Never displayed any aggression
5. Missed chances.

It about time we get a bowling coach. I feel someone like Javagal Srinath would give better leads than Chappel. I am beginning to feel that Coach is riding his luck using Dravid’s capacity. I want BCCI to give free right of speech to Dravid and other players. We will then know the reality here.

India will have a target of around 550+, we do have a lineup that can bat till 9 [also till 9pm for next 2 days], in fact I was happy and comfortable to watch Afridi play fluent shots, and this means Pitch is slowly becoming a car park space, unless the curator has an on/off switch to change these conditions we could see more runs. But we could never know, bottom line it is a tough ask and we need to save the test. One thing, Dravid and Co please! Don’t go for a draw from the word go. And better get Gangully in the team for the one day. Frankly he played better than everyone in the first innings including the Lord. And Pathan , scoring runs is definitely a feather in his hat, no doubt however he needs to worry about the hat first.

Bollywood Dhamaka, a fantastic musical evening. The program started on time and it was almost a full house [about 500 people]. The instrumentalists were fantastic and supported the vocalists well. The band consists of a drummer, a bass player and guitarist, Keyboards, Tabla and Alto-Sax/key Flute. The Sax player Ramesh was simply outstanding. I have never seen an Indian sax player with such musical body language while playing, he was moving all round the stage and was pumping air to generate fantastic music. I had an informal chat with him, he plays jazz in NYC and he is actually from the West Indies.

Vocalists, Rajag need no introductions, from the word go he simply rocked audience with his vocals and stage presence. RajaG has lots of Spb Built in him – a compliment, [he also looked similar on stage] and however surprise! Being a Hindi show, there was very minimal SPB references in vocal Tone. His modulation was more of Kishore Kumar and Rafi. I never heard him sing this fashion and was amazed.

In my opinion the Sangathees and placements he sang for manjolai kilithano was better than original. Also RajaG played the MC role, after every song he gave tidbits and explained the composition with raga quotations from few other songs etc, this added lots of value to the show.

Alisha - had lots of local following, when she walked on stage I heard lots of applauses already. She was as amazing as she used to be in the studio, this is rare quality for singers. Be it Recording or live, Alisha’s singing sounded just the same – fantastic talent. After the show I told her that she is so famous now, very soon I would have to take an appointment to schedule a recording with her. Though I joked, for the amount talent she has - I wish this happens;

Rohini, another Local female vocalist from Dc area, already had some of her fans out sitting in the crowd. She sang all the numbers with ease and was never tensed. More than anything her range in the lower octaves got my attention. She seems to have the husky tonal quality that would work best for modern rowdy teen songs.

There are certain things this band was different from others I have seen. 1st All of them met just 2 hours before the show. The musicians or the vocalists did not have any tension or stage pressure. This is a great quality. I have seen bands where most of the members would shift into a fussy mode and will be touchy just before the show. Pressure will eat them alive. Here it was different; I did not witness any tension or pressure on or off stage. Musicians kept really cool and coordinated well with the lead singers’. In the professional circuit I have seen bands in Chennai, where they will have one good leader who is in charge and will have a good control over the production. When you have one good band leader giving instructions and everyone following it things seems to work well, here it was Rajag. He controlled the execution very well.

There were about 30 songs in the program. Every thing was done well; my song of the Evening Vote goes to Kora Kagaz Tha from Aradhana. This fantastic S.D.Burman classic was sung by RajaG and Rohini. This song still keeps ringing in my ears. Maine Chukar Dekha Hai by Alisha from the movie Black [Music: Monty], it was an excellent composition which she rendered it to perfection.

With singers from 3 different generations, and band of professional musicians, the whole evening was a fantastic experience. Frankly I never expected it to be this good. Kudos to the Organizers from the Art of living foundation - Mr. Bhasker and his team of volunteers for a fun filled evening. It was really worth spending my money and my precious time.

1/26/06

Looking forward for it

I have met and still meeting fantastic musicians in my 20 year old musical life. Few whom I would prefer to forget but there are many whom I simply cannot forget. This weekend I will be meeting one such person.

Kansas Raja or popularly known as RajaG - for about 7 years we have been good friends, in fact I would say he is the one who opened the doors for my music productions here in the US. I am really grateful to him till date for this deed.

Flash back - Last Century [1998] - It was a cold wintry Iowa weekend; RajaG called me and enquired my musical talents. I had known him via Tfmpage.com. After few phone chats about music etc, he told me that he is going to drive down for the weekend to meet me. “Kansas to Davenport Iowa during the brutal winter months?” yeh! He said No problem! Any thing for music;

At about 12.35am on Saturday I get a call from him, it seems his Van got stuck in a Snow pile, sure! I thought because the local news channels were busy measuring snow in feet. I set off at wee hours on a slippery road condition to pick someone whom I know only by voice. This is how I met RajaG and from that day till now he has been encouraging my musical quests and been a good friend. I have recorded many times with RajaG [ மோகத்தை கொண்று விடு, பொன் மாலை, வண்ணத் தமிழ் ]. However never seen him live on stage, this it the first time.

Wait there is much more to this show, call it icing on the cake - Alisha Thomas would be also singing along with him. Let me also rewind how I met Alisha. Thanks to Praveen who gave my contact number to Dr. Thomas. He called me, introduced himself and told about his daughter who had sung in Malayalam albums. I auditioned Alisha, and never looked back. Alisha soon recorded பாரதம் followed by Daddy’s girl for me and was an automatic add in my recent album H1bees. She needs no further introduction in the DC metro area.

The Banner on the right Side, Bolloywood Dhamaka, a fantastic light music show is on cards by Kansas Raja and his Band. With other top musicians, two of my favorite vocalists will be on stage singing. Folks, if you are around the DC metro area please try to attend, the proceeds goes to a good cause. A fun filled musical evening is on cards. I am Looking forward for it

Being in Washington DC area for few years now, I learnt one thing quite well here - Wasting money. Jingoistic circuits in my brain forced me to spend on this drab test series against Pakistan. There are millions of viewers who are disgusted as I am now. Pakistani board has to be penalized for simply killing the sprit in the sport. First test had a car park converted to pitch while this one resembled Mambalam highway. [Road that runs parallel to the railway track from Mambalam to Kodambakkam]

Both teams scored about 1600 runs, bowlers proved and sent a message, they established the fact that even they can score runs in such life less tracks. Zaheer and R.P Singh [Man of the match] managed to get some thing out but by then lead was about 400+, the crowd began to move out as soon as Abusing Afridi got out. Dravid never wastes free coupons – he boosted his average. What ever, Never! I will spend to watch test cricket played in Pakistan. One good thing about this game, I got my usual quote of sleep. For $150 I would have got another Channel strip module, something I have been longing this year to upgrade.

Firing arrows in my wound – Mr. Michel holding! Why and who selected him to be the master of ceremonies, English language had its final ceremony. Dean Jones would do a better job, why don’t they get him. Holding might be great bowler etc, but his accent - we need subtitles and closed captaining in English to understand what he is referring to, prudent Dravid just took a copy of his speech from the last game and read it again, Inzi followed him. The whole Circus now moves to a parking space in Karachi.

American Idol, in spite of sarcasm, everyone gets attracted to this program. Yesterday I came across witty and humorous comments from Simon. He rejected a contestant by giving a very funny reason - “Frank opinion - The reason for my NO was - it sounded just like the original” – contestant sang a Back street Boys number.

One guy showed up in green dress and long golden hair and dark green eye makeovers – Simon on seeing him - “You just look like Incredible Hulk’s wife” of course his voice was just like Mr. Hulk. -- Sounds Crude? but hey a great presense of mind. Another guy who introduced himself as the best ever singer and can sing any style but when tested - sucked right royally, Simon asked him about his music training – if any, the guy says “I learnt it from the DVD of Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson” Simon went to him and congratulated him for his fantastic talent. He was very funny all through the show.

Is it right to insult people on TV? This is a big debate!, however when you see someone yapping too much about their talent but when tested before Judges their voice often resembles a cat suffering from an early morning constipation – I feel they do deserve the Simon treatment. Most musicians who pass the selection hardly speak loud or Yaps, they are calm before and after the audition.

However my above conclusion is based on Fox production. A good screen play with proper edits can change any ones views, or I call it the MichelMoorph’ism. We will never know the true colors of this show.

Good day.

Sports filled Weekend, in about a decade of my NFL craze; finally a team that I support is in the super bowl. Pittsburg Steelers stunned everyone and are now all set to take on Seattle Seahawks. Go! Steelers.

2nd Test match - Think Tank opted for more bowlers. I was just wondering - we have 3 openers, of which 2 are rested, and 2 wickets keepers of which one is destined to carry drinks. Why carry unwanted resources if they are not going to be used? It is a known fact that our bowling attack is very much below par, so instead of Parthiv Patel, why did the think tank ask the selectors for an additional bowler? If [touch wood] Dhoni gets injured we can always get Parthiv or Dinesh [2 hrs flight from Delhi] to replace him? I don’t get this at all.

Dropping specialist openers then push Gangully to open, media speculation, finally Dravid takes the opening slot. Why such disarray? If four bowlers cannot stop the runs spree I do not know what the fifth would do extra. Just a head count, what ever Zaheer bowled, Gangully can bowl. I am not supporting Gangully, but based on the bowling in the last game, he was never given the ball in spite of good bowling compared to others.

Anyway, India seems to be on right track, thanks to Dhoni and Pathan. Dhoni decided attack is best form of Defense; He hit everyone around the ground and got a well deserved century. Pathan, Pathan compensated for his pathetic bowling and was on 49 when bad light stopped play.

The morning session was too dull; the Indian top order complicated their life; thanks to the super cautious approach. Dravid and Laxman played well but were too slow in my opinion. They could have easily scored about 100 runs more if they had attacked instead of defending. Approximately, the partnership between VVS and Dravid fetched about 197 runs in 400 balls. Just assuming a run a ball, we are left with about 200 balls dot balls. About 30 maiden overs; 3 runs per over would have fetched us about 90 runs extra. But they were busy blocking and giving confidence to the bowlers on a lifeless track. Both the batsmen created unwanted pressure in the middle. Adding to the agony, Sachin ruled himself out and walked. This was followed Dravid’s run out. Yuvraj carelessly hooked a short ball. If not Dhoni and Pathan , we would be following on.

Good day!.

1/20/06

Cricket headlines in Google news speculates Inzi to be the culprit who instructed the curator to prepare a flat track. what else you expect from a defensive dude? What ever next Test starts in about 13 hrs; this does not matter now. Bedi’s predicts - “Faisalabad to be another bore. But finally says “only a nincompoop would make predictions”.

Viru had yapped more than his usual. Akathar Sami & company will definitely pump steam and fire some scud missiles at him. I am more worried about Indian bowling, unable to guess if Ajith the “Almighty All Rounder” be dropped. He might escape by blaming the pitch. Weather might play its part, if the weather predictions its worth, we could see some rain interruptions on the 3rd or 4th days play.

My pitch prediction: a pitch with uneven bounce that has room for some turn. After Lahore, btw:I did the prediction based on my drive way.

NFL weekend, Pittsburg Steelers at Denver after their fantastic win over the Colts. Colts lost in spite of getting indirect help from the Zebras and an unbelievable fumble by “the Bus”. Hope Steelers win and make it all the way to Detroit. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Finally,
I was cleaning my studio hard drive. I found a track which I though I would put it here. Vocals by Sundar Rao, a very talented Hindustani vocalist; Sundar has sung many songs for me in the past. This track is from one of my composing sessions.

I compose songs often inspired by Udhaya's poems, I take the liberty of using Udhaya’s lyrics with his consent. At times I also borrow words from Bharathi or use my own words just to give a better picture to the lyricist. This song is about rain, I felt one of Udhaya’s poem had a great pallavi, later for the second part I picked some more apt words from Bharathi, we can call it a lyrics fusion about Rain. I was at the Kennedy center millennium stage yesterday to watch a fusion concert by a band from Toronto called “AutoRickshaw”. Their website reads
“Autorickshaw is a world music ensemble that embodies the essence of new forms of expression that are emerging on the Canadian music landscape. Their integration of South Asian tradition with jazz and other popular music forms represents an innovative and refreshing new standard. “

Yes! Above was a clear Bait for me, and I took it. And let me tell you I did not regret it.

The band members - Suba Sankaran - lead vocalists and pianist, Ed Hanley on Tabla, and Rich brown on the bass. Their regular drummer Debashis Sinh was substituted. All of them were incredibly talented.

The concert started off with a fusion mix of near Thillana, with neat beat placements in semi- classical format. Yah! I thought typical start to such fusion concerts. This was followed by a Tamil song that resembled close to Kavidichhindu. It was more sentimental experience as I heard themadura Tamil in my first visit to a Kennedy center concert. The Tabla, Bass and drum parts were composed and placed tight over the melody lines.

The best part of the show was yet to come. - Jazz standards. Jazz standards are well known tunes played by Jazz musicians, something similar to Pallavis in Carnatic music. In general Jazz bands will improvise these standards using on the fly ideas. Jazz artists have full freedom to explore [or freak out] and it is very near to our Kalapana swarms in Carnatic music. The band took a jazz standard and presented it in typical Bolloywood fashion or I called it the R.D.Burman method. This was new to me; I felt the idea to be very unique. The vocalist was very fluent in mixing Jazz scats and Dance “Solukatus”. I have heard standards changed to Latin, Ska etc, however Bolloywood mix was new. Some might remember the song “Palinginal oru mAligai” this might be first the Jazz standard in Kolloywood format.

This was followed by a composition in Charukesi, It was good in places but has room for more. I also felt singer went off key in various places. She sang while playing the piano, this might have distracted her. Next one was a nice melody in Kalyani, typical Carnatic methods used over English lyrics. The concert ended with a fantastic blues about train journey from Chennai. The song took me around Chegalpattu, Maduranthagam, Villupuram till Erodre that brought back nostalgic memories.

I had an informal chat for few minutes with Suba Sankaran after the concert. She has her own recording studio and she is also a recording artist. Her parents hail from Chennai and her dad is a renowned Mirudagam Vidwan Trichy Sankaran, a popular and famous musician from Tamil Nadu. Dr. Sankaran is the Founding Director of Indian music studies and Professor of Music at York University, Toronto, Canada.

The only concern I had in the whole concert was off-key issue. The “Simon side” of my brain kept pushing me about this every now and then. Still over all package was neat, the band has unique and inspirational ideas that should be encouraged; Their CDs are available here. Music has no Language, Borders, Culture barriers, AutoRickshaw is another example.

Good day!.

Yesterday was the season premier for the popular TV show, American Insults oops Idols. About 50-60% percentage of the viewers watch the show for “what Simon says”, and some feel disgusted about his blunt opinions. Nevertheless he is very witty and judges the talent with accuracy. This ability of Simon is such he is often pardoned for his verbal abuse and instant participant tease. I do admire his judgment. However after watching yesterday’s show I felt Simon went overboard. He started to insult and score points on “physical” appearance of the participants. The biggest sufferer was a little guy about 4 feet tall. He did sing mediocre however instead of talking about his vocal cords, Simon hit a wrong chord citing his height and physical appearances. He called him a Wasp and he made fun of his physical appearances. He also ridiculed few others by asking to increase the stage size. Scoring sadism points in the name of Show business. Shame on Simon and Fox network; a participant who was jumping around like an elastic band and screaming in the name music was given a ticket to Hollywood. Thanks to Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

The movie Gajinee - I watched recently, and man Harris Jeyaraj what was he thinking when he scored those dreaded background music. He picks hooks like “BoZo” “BoZo” and Zolo lozo and creates a crackpot theme. And some were inspired from Passion of the Christ. The DTS panning to the right and left surround speakers made it more awful and painful. Few more Harris Background hooks can be found here.
First half was nice; Suriya and Asin play their part well. But the second half was simply worthless. The dual role villain [Bill O Reilly look alike] , he just goes around and kills people. Director totally lost his way may be he had to return the original novel [Memento] to the library. The villain spin reminded me of good old and pathetic Anatha oru Nimidam. In this movie Major [the director] goes over board in his imagination. Instead of killing the bad guys he makes Kamal and Co kill the audience. Kartik vocals rocks in “Oru Malai” and Suriya dances well in Rangola , Salsa ஆடி கலக்கரார். I think Surya has the smart looking hero charm and fantastic screen presence when compared to most of the “modern day heroes”.
My screen presence rankings –
Power struggle - Suriya, Vikram, Chimpu;
Romance Struggle – Maddy, Suriya;
Audience Struggle: EEOV - எனக்கு ஏங்க ஊர் வம்பு

Cricket, do you know that Rawalpindi Express wheels oops shoes costs around 55k [$1400]. Specially designed for him; and it seems he has five pairs of these designer shoes. What ever, if the next test gets rained off, I have better uses for those shoes. Indian board rebelled out of the Champions trophy next year. Good for them, this tournament always coincides with their peak test season. ICC has warned stern action against India. Oh YA! The five star banquet gatherings where they make such decisions are being paid by Crazy Desi Cricket Fan.

Good day.

The Agony ended. To cover the cost, the Lahore cricket ground was leased to a wedding party for the evening. The play was called well ahead of the time for the guests to arrive and settle down for the function. The pitch area was quickly converted to a valet car park while a quick kitchen was built near the pavilion/long off region. The glamorous wedding took place under lights with 5203 guests - twice the match Attendance.

Match Drawn, Waste of time and money for pathetic pitiable cricket fans including “yours faithfully”. Next one starts at Faisalabad, a pitch that is going to bounce, swing a.k.a bowlers’ paradise Yawn, we were told the same for Lahore.

Suggestions to make next one interesting

  • Reduce the pitch size by 11 - Half pitch.
  • One Pitch One hand [except Danish Kaneria]
  • Over arm throw [Bedi says "in that case Shoib Akthar need not change his action”]
  • 4 stumps and 4 bails
  • Keep the press and TV involved - During lunch time a small street play about Gangully, Dravid, Chappel and Kiran More titled, "Dada becomes a sAda"
  • Inversions [lefties should play in Right while rightist Play in left][will also be a Cheesy concept for the next FOX TV show ]

A question to the Pakistani board: During the previous historical, geographical, political tour - the stands were empty. Pakistani board failed to get people to the ground. The Stands were even missing the “filler” - flies and the crows. The same trend continued again this time, where did the damn cricket loving crowds of Lahore go? Few Indians who had traveled all the way across the border were seen cheering all alone. Why schedule a game in place where crowd is not interested to see the sport. ICC needs to take a note of it. Just ban the grounds from next few games if promised crowd fails to shows up. May be - Buy 1 and get 21 free tickets with a flag of your choice could work.

Indian openers failed to break the record and missed the land mark by 4 runs. There was also a presentation function and a “ceremony” for the pitch. Sehwag boldly mentioned about the pitch “it lacked international quality”. Dravid gave a nice speech; when Rameeze Raja asked about opening and team selection issues he dogged it quite well and told we picked the best team on cards. Period; He also mentioned that he was thrilled to watch Viru from the best seat in the ground, he also told never once he tried to compete with Viru. He played his own game and left the hitting job to the specialist. Gangully was given the “best catch of the match award”. Mmm..

Indian board has lined up more matches with Australia next few years; board is also considering India Pakistan games on neutral venues like Toronto etc what ever! For now, buzz around my office is some how get tickets to the Steelers Broncos game in Denver!
    Good day.

    Gameகூபாம் கபீம் Day

    India vs Pakisthan
    Day, 2,3, 4

    கூபாம்கபிம் *** கபீம்கூபாம் *** கூபாகாம்பீ
    [Sub title: kUbAmkabIm kapImkUbAm]
[ps:Technical specs about these punishments can be obtained from 1-900-Anniyan or Anniyan.com]

These were the punishment bowlers were made to face in the first test at Lahore. When compared with Indian bowlers, though they got more wickets , Pakistani bowlers did bowl some tight line. But Genius in Sehwag keep them hitting really hard. When கூபாம்கபிம் was ordered on them them, at least Indians were happy to get few wickets. But yesterday Viru was simply “பிச்சிடுவேன் பிச்சி” on a mummified pitch , that was recently excavated from the near by Harappa and Mohendarajo.

Inzi’s agony continued, When ever they showed him, for some reason I recollected the background from the movie Gajini “Bo zo Bo zo Bo zo”. He resorted to some top level captaincy and was seen using “inki piny ponkey” to choose his next bowler. In the second half when Sehwag was around 180, bowlers start to toss coins amongst themselves to pick the next bowler, Poor Rana lost the toss and had to bowl – donation of 4 ruthless boundaries to Sehwag.

The fun part was Dean Jones commentary, he started to play a game, using his computer and mouse he started to draw arrows to guess where Viru would hit the ball. Rameeze Raja little bit ticked by this, was giving a அசட்டு smile and took the sarcasm, but he also defended the pitch, it seems it is not yet dead, yawn, I agree but should be born before being dead.

Indians will break records, CDS, Cassette tapes, what ever, the sun god on vacation to the down under, what to say, I feel for Gangully, Why? It was speculated that he was asked to open, but did not want to , poor Ex missed this free run spree. What ever, Tomorrow another day of கூபாம்கபீம் ensured.

The NFL Play off final four, - my prediction a.k.a Guess, a.k.a blind luck - Steelers, Broncs, Panthers, and Seahawks – did come true. Go Steelers!

    Good day.

    Game Day

    India vs. Pakistan
    Day 1

After all the hype, the game started at around 11.45pm EST, there was no Pitch report or Toss etc, Dish Network took us directly to the game. I am sure they would blame the other end. On the other end there came the poor picture quality. The clarity, color, contrast were substandard. I tried adjusting my TV, but “if only food in pot, you get in the xxl-spoon”, that was turn off for me right away. So much “Gaga” over mediocre coverage.

Dravid lost the toss and was put in, since no pitch report was shown, I had to guess the nature. There were many speculations in the media about this - Green & Grassy & Bouncy etc. First it cannot be a bouncy track, Why? because Pakistan chose to bat. It just took few overs for me to guess the nature with pin point accuracy.
My pitch report: The pitch more or less resembled a temporary parking space created during state fairs. Bowlers are in for a roller coaster ride. Bad bowlers are in for slaughter

Irfan sent the first over with some level of accuracy however too dry.
Ajith “the All-Rounder” Agarkar had reserved tickets for a morning show at Local Lahore Malik theater, but was forcibly selected in the team and adding to his agony he was asked to bowl by the captain. How dare!, displaying his frustration over missing a good movie, he sent down tons of Donkey, Monkey [few were at KingKong's size] Mule, Dinosaur, Penguin droppings and called it bowling. Agarkar will be a good candidate for “Bogi” celebrations today. How he gets selected in the team in spite of continues mediocre performances? Only “Balaji” knows it, I am referring to the “Balaji” standing in Thirupathi.

Pakistani Batsmen were all set to score big with ***** comfort [I meant 5 star]. None of the Indian bowlers troubled them. My trouble multiplied thanks to the commentary team, Dean Jones, Rameez Raja, L. Siva Oh! Lord Please protect my Ear Drum-Bucket-Mug! I already started to feel the effect of Friday the 13th.

When everything was going well for Pakistan, Salam Butt decided that he should gift something to the visiting team, he overshot his follow through on the north Striker end. Yuvraj Singh who had recently acquired few acres of Mango orchards threw a direct hit and Butt along with rest of his parts failed to make the line. He was out. Younis Khan escaped a close LBW call from the umpire. From this moment on nothing worth while happened for the Indians. They went on donating runs.

Anil Kumble did nothing and went back to his good old Donkey Droplets technique. While Harbajan bowled well but for some reason Dravid had a very defensive field for him.I like to mention that Gangully also bowled and infact bowled well when compared to others. Ganguly also hit the stumps directly once and tried a run out. They showed some pictures of Gangully arguing or speaking with Dravid while Chappel was watching them clueless, it looked like "Srikanth" [me] when watching a Hindi TV Serial.

Bottom line, India does not have good bowling attack. Let us get it loud and clear. Pathan tries hard. While Agakar had tickets to KingKong and was upset about missing the movie. Kumble’s attack looked like the Red Skins offence, while Harbajan tried but Dravid did not give him a good field.

The play was unofficially called off at 5.00am - yes by me - I went to bed, and then learnt from rewinding the DVR that game was also called off little later due to bad light. What ever, Pakistan will score about 700. Frankly with such poor Indian bowling line up and a Parking lot turned Pitch - 700 seems to be a low score.

Wish you a happy bOgi, pongal , Matu Pongal, Kannum pongal, veN pongal, sarkarai pongal, semiya Pongal pongalo pongal “Indian Team” pongalo pongalo Pongal .

    1/12/06

Team India is all set to meet its Arch rivals; Pakistan team will take this game as seriously as the Indian Team. Akthar has picked 37 wickets in past 7 games. He is a changed person -physically and mentally, he has developed stamina to keep on bowling for a long period of time. Get it clear - It is going to be serious cricket from Akthar and Co. Indian opening pair [though Think Tanks would shuffle and might get a joker in the deal] Sehwag and Gambheer have been struggling to get into tight batting form. For start of any serious, the opening stand is vital, they have to take on Akthar & co, and should prevent the dreaded Indian domino effect which we suffered in the hands of Shane Bond. Gangully factor, in about T-14 hrs we would know if he would play or carry drinks. Captaincy to 12th man, I remember vaguely of Venkat Ragavan who faced this crude change of fortunes.

Three blind mice Three blind mice…
Darrell Hair, Rudi Koertzen Match Referee: Ranjan Madhugalle (Sri Lanka).Rudi Koertzen (South Africa) is a good umpire. We can depend on him. But I am worried Darrel Hair and Steve Bucknor [thank god he is not standing for the first game] who are notorious for dubious decisions. Mr. Hair in past has had “super problems” in concentrating and judging decisions, but still finds his place. Ranjan the fine collector Madhugalle will be disappointed - Gangully is not leading, collection will be far less.

Weather conditions will play a major role; Indians have never won in Lahore, All the best India!

Dish Network is yet to announce its coverage,
    - Updated:They just made the announcement - $150 for all the games.
Hey so what! Switch to web streaming. I hear it, but I would have to think twice before making a decision; apart from the content legality most websites have a crude refund policy. Buyers beware is kind of not accepted in America.

Dish Network, seemingly a worth less and disorganized TV, don’t seem to realize the potential here. Few years ago [1998-99], Cricket telecast were offered via Dish by a company called Kelly Broadcasting System. Cricket telecast was kind of organized. However after dish network took over cricket, the golden goose was chopped and stewed. It is not right for Dish Network to buy the copy rights and flush it down the drain or exploit its customer for a high price. World cup is round the corner, Direct TV will be getting it live here. So…is it time to switch from Dish?

    Finally,
You can't make up anything anymore. The world itself is a satire. All you're doing is recording it. - Art Buchwald.

Why did I quote this here?

If you need a break from your work stress just go and read this latest Blog! from Praveen, the funny guy from Chennai. :) Praveen's satire writings are witty and hilarious. It is about time for him to find the next generation “S.V.Sekars” and “Madhus” and feature his scripts as stage plays or TV Sitcoms. - jimbly suberb!

    Good day.

There are many amazing people I meet everyday in my life, they have been guiding forces and inspirations in my path. In fact, some of the most difficult ones have taught me the most!. I am really lucky and honored to have talented friends around me

The Umpires/officials for the Pakistan India series have been announced. Darrel Hair in the elite panel. It is rumored that his appointment was due to the sponsorship money received from a top Vision lenses manufacturer, who will be testing their new state of the art PerfectHD-Vision lenses that helps to control myopia and postpone evening blindness.

Spin Guru Bishen Bedi recently trashed Shobib as a professional Chucker. Let us wait and see what Mr. Hair is up to.

Ranjan Madugulle will be the fine collector for the test while Chris Broad will do the needful during the One day matches. ICC hopes to install the state of the art coffee vending machines in their new office building.

The TV telecast, this is another major racket that is to be decided. In USA dish network will bring it live, [as per their website] the pricing is yet to be announced. Hope it is affordable.

Australia Beat South Africa in the first Twenty20 game. Talking of Australia, RajDes [Full name?] had posted a very interesting observation in the comment box.

Ricky has hardly made it in Sri Lankan and Indian pitches. They just happen to play an assured quota of home tests every here - and here also it is predictably Sydney, Melbourne, Perth Adelaide or Brisbane- each having its predictable characteristics. It is no wonder that the likes of Hayden, Langer, Ponting score with regularity in these pitches.

Contrast that with India, where in the first place, home test could mean an unknown pitch in Pune or Ahmedabad. And that too, they won’t behave the same way every year. If only we could standardize Madras, Calcutta, Bangalore, Mohali and Bombay as the only centers, and have standard pitches in them a la australia, our test players' home record will be even more monumental - due to sheer amount of familiarity. Also, I have a pet theory. Don Bradman didn’t have to play much in unfamiliar territory like Dhaka or Harare or Motera. It was always the predictable Sydney or at the worst, Lords. The familiarity factor must sure have helped him. When comparing Sachin and Bradman, people hardly take this factor into account

    The familiarity factor, a very interesting observation;

    Good day.

"Cricket needs positive games, it doesn't need teams batting out and drawing games,"
    -Smith, South African captain.

Yawn!, I pity him, he was too naive to assume that Australia will not score more than 4 per over. When it comes to winning, Test cricket or One day it does not really matter for top teams. And For super teams like Australia where everyone in the 14 knows to bat in such circumstances, it was Cleary a wrong decision to declare with such a low margin of safety.

[1] Without a world class spinner in Sydney; [2] 4 Runs per over for the world champs is not that difficult; It was gutsy or stupid decision? For you to guess; Smith also failed to consider the myopic crowd support for the home team, with 3 blind mice’s technically called umpires making merry on every decision. Smith should have played it safe, yes drawn matches are boring, but loosing a game because of underestimating your opponents is sheer stupidity.

Today Aussie press is speculating that Sachin’s achievement could be soon conquered by Ponting; yes it can happen, and he can be there in quick time. What ever, Please remember this hard coded fact - Ponting’s achievement cannot eclipse Sachin even by a whisker. The world today knows that Ponting gets 2 or more innings per inning, if you know what I mean.

Mr. [Finger] Pointing has also spoken about misbehavior for his team mates. He also did the same in the field. Hey! what if he had lost or drawn the game? I am sure he would never bother to curb such activities and would cover the entire episode with the term “metal disintegration” or some “gizmophic” English word.

After all this, Smith now says South African will take the revenge in their home games. I really like Smith as a batsmen and a captain, hope he really means what he says. Time will tell. but I would also say this - better get some really biased umpires to make this happen, else Ricky the magician will use this magic powder to blind umpires and will snatch the game.

    Have a good play-off weekend.

    Sriks
Ps: this is my 250 blog!...

    1/4/06

How do you win Games? , One method is to play good cricket, but there are also other ways. The famous “Australian” way, use distracting tactics and get the umpire on your side. Ponting, Andrew Symonds and Mike hussy were out couple of times and were let go by the umpire. Adding to this agony Nel the flamboyant South African bowler reported racial comments from the crowd. Nel is also known for his tantrums, but Racial smears from the crowd cannot be tolerated. Aussies needs to re-think their tactics, Cricket Australia and their captain Ricky Pointing [he made 120/1] should be ashamed. Mind it this is not the first time such things happen. Most touring team to Australia has gone through such treatments.
What is the point of being World champs? I really do not know. Gangully made 50% of the score of what his home team made. Kiran more should be happy that Gangully scored runs.

Sri Lanka is yet to regain their form, lost badly to New Zealand. Inzi has commented about Sachin, they have plans to curb his batting. It seems Sachin is not like before, What ever, I really don’t care. When will the act of comparing Sachin25 to Sachin32 will end. His fate is such that even the slightest failure - he would become “Sachin65” for his skeptics. Inzi is more worried about Sehwag and he considers Indians to be the favorites.

“The Top 10” program on SunTV: This program spoofs every other movie. Yesterday was their favorite - T.Rajender, man! It was really funny to the core, they demonstrated how it would sound if all the characters in the movie talked in “high raised language” [அதான் sir அடுக்கு மொழி], Frankly in the world of 6th sensed [பக்குத்தறிவு] Tamil Serials [such comedy skit clearly saves their subscription.

What are 6th sensed Tamil serials? When a sit com has the story line woven in and around false Hindu religious beliefs, Astrology, pulse Astrology [நாடி ஜோசியம்] and mistreatment of women by another set of women, their family husbands [Yes plural] , this can be termed as 6th sensed Tamil Serials. It seems few weeks ago the Selvi that airs late night WTC was shown clearly what is WTC?- Widow Treatment Ceremony. Man! Not 6th sensed - it is 7th Sense aka nonsense. Pathetic!

    Good day!.

    1/3/06

Words of wisdom from the Indian Captain:
Building a team is as much about finding the right people as it is about not having the "wrong people around them.

You don't want people whose own insecurities, whose own problems and whose own fears drag everyone else down. That can be a big dampener in teams.
    -- well said!..

Indians are all set for the Pakistan tour which is just about a week away. There are concerns about weather playing spoilsport. I would wait before dumping the money for the live telecast.

Aussies are being tortured by slow South African batting; the famous grumpy Australian twin “Mr. Mean Misbehavior” was well under control for past few years, thanks to medications like “World Champs” or “Enormous success”, however South Africans are holding the bull by horns, the Aussie medication seems to fail, the evil twin seems to take over. Brett Lee argued with the umpire over and over again for an LBW decision and was reprimanded by the match referee, mostly he will be let go. Ponting appearing to have angry exchanges with the umpires was linked to its frustration at a lack of bowling success. Yes! If Pointing does it, we can call it is frustration, but if one Mr. Gangully does it is called misbehavior. Indian Board for a change did something correct, they might break away from the ICC test plan, Board wants to play more against Australia and England, current scheduling limits games between these countries.

The New Year is here bright!, 2005 a memorable one for me - my musical journey for past 15 years finally saw a crescendo, thanks to all my well wishers, artists, friends and family. “Desire”, “Determination”, “Action” “Destiny”, - Secret of success WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.
